Frequently asked questions
What MCP is, how your data is protected and what your AI can change.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard AI assistants use to talk to other software. MCP Hosted runs an MCP server for every tool it supports, so you can ask Claude or ChatGPT about your invoices, customers or servers in plain language, without copying data back and forth.
Only what you allow, and that limit is never just a pop-up in your AI client. Some connections only read: our server has no tool for them that changes anything. Some only read until you allow changes, and our server refuses every change you did not allow. The others can only do what the API key you give them permits, and the tool itself refuses the rest. Every connection page lists exactly what it can do.
It is encrypted with AES-256 before it is saved, and only used to answer your own requests. It never appears in logs or in what your AI assistant receives. Your assistant signs in to MCP Hosted with its own access, which you approve yourself, so it never sees the key.
No. Each answer is fetched live from your tool and passed straight on to your assistant. We keep no copy of your invoices, customers or servers, never pass them to anyone else, and run no AI model that could train on them. Once the answer reaches your assistant, its own privacy settings apply.
Click Disconnect on the setup page of a connection and we delete its API key right away, so every AI assistant loses access to that tool. Deleting your account removes all your keys and the access of every assistant in one go, and cancels your subscriptions. You can also revoke the key in the tool itself.

For some tools, yes. You start the same server on your own computer with one npx command and a one-time license per tool. Your API key and your data then never pass through our servers.
No. MCP Hosted is an independent service and is not affiliated with the tools it connects to. It works through their public APIs, the same way other integrations do.
