Smithery hosting ends on 31 October. Here's how to move your MCP connections.

On 31 October 2026 Smithery stops hosting and proxying MCP servers, and your run.tools and server.smithery.ai URLs stop working. If you use Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor with WeFact, e-Boekhouden, Rompslomp, Zenvoices, Laravel Forge or Google Search Console, you can move that connection to MCP Hosted now. We host the server and keep it up to date. Your AI can only read by default, and our server enforces that.

What stops on 31 October

According to Smithery (smithery.ai/future):

  • Since 5 August 2026: paid plans get every charge since this date refunded. Your subscription is cancelled and you won't be charged again. Smithery says refunds usually arrive within 5 to 10 business days.
  • 31 October 2026: these stop working:
    • server URLs on run.tools and server.smithery.ai
    • the Smithery API, Connect and Toolbox
    • Smithery accounts and API keys
    • the Smithery CLI and SDKs (current versions marked as deprecated)
  • What stays: smithery.ai stays online as a public directory of MCP servers, now powered by Arcade. Verified servers list the vendor's direct MCP URL.

If your tool has its own official MCP URL, Smithery recommends switching to that. If you use one of the tools below, you can also move to us.

Why MCP Hosted

Read-only by default, enforced on our server

With WeFact, your AI can only read until you tick what it may change, down to a single action. A WeFact API key can't be limited, so our server refuses every change you didn't allow before anything reaches WeFact. That means you don't depend on the approval pop-up in your AI client. The pop-up is a client setting, and one click on "always allow" turns it off.

  • Zenvoices, e-Boekhouden and Rompslomp are fully read-only, with no tool that changes anything.
  • Google Search Console is read-only unless you choose read and write when you connect, and Google enforces that choice.

With Laravel Forge, your token's scopes decide what your AI can do. If you only want it to read, give the token just organization:view and server:view.

Your key encrypted, your data not stored

We encrypt your API key with AES-256 before saving it, and your AI assistant never sees it. Data from your tools is fetched live and passed straight on. We keep no copy and no AI model trains on it. Our server and database run in a data centre in the EU. The security page lists every other company involved.

Built for Dutch business software

We build every connection ourselves and update it when the software changes. WeFact only accepts whitelisted IP addresses, so we use one fixed IP for it: 46.101.201.38. You can make several connections per tool, each with its own URL. The status page shows whether each tool's API is responding.

Prefer to run it yourself?

WeFact, Laravel Forge, Zenvoices, e-Boekhouden and Rompslomp also run on your own machine with one npx command and a one-time license. Your API key and your data then never pass through our servers.

Move in 3 steps

  1. 1

Create an account. Enter your email address and we'll send you a code, or continue with Google or GitHub.

  2. 2

Connect your tool. Paste the API key from your software's settings (for Google Search Console, sign in with Google), choose what your AI may change and start the subscription for that tool.

  3. 3

Swap the Smithery URL. In Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, remove the old run.tools or server.smithery.ai URL. Then add your connection's URL as a remote MCP server, for example https://mcphosted.com/mcp/wefact, and sign in once.

The site says setup takes about two minutes per tool. If you use WeFact, first whitelist our IP 46.101.201.38 in WeFact under Instellingen > API.

Frequently asked questions

No. Smithery shuts down its server URLs on run.tools and server.smithery.ai on 31 October 2026, along with its API, Connect, accounts and CLI. Move your connections before then.

WeFact, Laravel Forge, Zenvoices, Google Search Console, e-Boekhouden and Rompslomp (beta). If your tool isn't listed, use the free MCP check to see whether an MCP server exists for it.

Only what you allow. WeFact and Google Search Console are read-only by default, and Zenvoices, e-Boekhouden and Rompslomp are always read-only. With Laravel Forge, your token's scopes decide. Each connection page lists exactly which tools it has.

We only store your API key, encrypted. Data from your tools passes straight to your AI assistant and isn't kept. Our server and database are in an EU data centre. A few other companies, such as Cloudflare and Polar, help us run the service, and the security page lists them all.

€9 per month per connection. Hosting, updates and every AI client are included, and you can cancel whenever you want. To run the server yourself, buy a one-time license per tool instead.

Move before 31 October.

Connect your software, paste the new URL into Claude or ChatGPT and carry on.
